Cumann na mBunscoil comes to the Curragh!
Under the expert eyes of their coaches, Mr Shanahan, Mr Kelly and Ms Gomez, the boys and girls u11 teams have hit the ground running in their respective divisions.
Both teams squared off against Moone NS last week and whilst both teams ended up in the losing side in their first ever games for the school, there is a lot of promise for the season ahead.
After a rocky start against Moone NS, the boys team came back with a stirring 2nd half performance. This laid the foundations for the next day against St Patrick’s NS where they registered St Catherine of Siena’s first ever victory with a brilliant 10 point win. In a great team display, Kai Sage, Kayley Cox, Evan Furlong & Conor O Reilly Guilfoyle were to the fore, with Brayden Griffths’ kick outs proving vital. A massive well done to all involved.
Our girls ended up on the wrong end of a thrilling encounter against Moone in their first game. In a game for the ages, 10 goals were shared between the two teams, with Moone coming out the victors by a couple of points. The game saw some outstanding displays with Lauren Williamson, Kayley Cox and Carly Gallagher putting in strong displays. A special mention is reserved for Jade Ibirogba who hit a brilliant 3-4 in the forward line! We look forward to seeing the girls building on a brilliant debut.
*A special word of thanks to Moorefield GAA for the use of their pitches for our home games.
A visit to Sandycove.
Our 6th Class went on a very exciting field trip to Sandycove with a marine zoologist and environmental scientist to observe the flora and fauna and explore the sea shore. The weather was fabulous and the children had a fantastic time with some fascinating discoveries along the way! We would sincerely like to thank Kildare County Council, Louise Lawlor and all involved in making this a very fun and educational trip for the children.

Seachtain na Gaeilge
Many thanks to the extremely talented Eimear O’Loughlin and Ciarán English who kindly gave up their time to entertain our whole school playing a medley of traditional Irish tunes on the fiddle and the banjo for each class as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge. It was very much appreciated by the children and the staff and was wonderful to hear the lively music around the school.
